Labor Day Satire
On this Labor Day, ideally accompanied by a beer between innings, and shared with a few good friends, take five minutes to (again) enjoy the Onion’s all-time greatest piece – perhaps the most prescient satire ever written:

Have a safe, happy holiday – the Liberal Field Guide will return with new material on Wednesday.
Woodchipper Maintenance
CT has shut down the LFG’s patented Conserv-o-grinder for scheduled maintenance. Not to worry – we’ll be back next week, freshly tuned and oiled, ready to serve all your grinding needs.
In the meantime, feel free to explore our archives. (April is currently a staff favorite.) http://carltonthurman.me/2014/04/
Thanks – and see you soon –

Why
Blogging doesnt seem like an especially awesome idea. Best bet is I’ll spend way more time typing than readers will spend reading. But once it’s out there, I can no longer be blamed for anyone’s not reading it. I feel so weirdly unburdened now….
Certain elements anticipate that once a reader gets a taste, he’ll uncontrollably return again and again, referring numerous acquaintances, generating stupid-crazy traffic. I think the odds suck – but it’s not like this costs me anything more than dignity. Lock n load.
PS: “How” is Regina Spektor’s best song ever (BSE). This is entirely coincidental, and in no way informed my title “Why.” I do not advocate listening to “How” while reading “Why.” Carry on.
